RACING FOR HOT SPRINGS THIS FALL. Recent Purchaser of Essex Park Ready to Give New York System of Betting a Trial. Buffalo, X. Y., September 2. Simon Cooper, who recently purchased Essex Park track at Hot Springs, was among todays visitors at Fort Erie. He stated that in all probability he would attempt a short fall meeting on his track to give the Now York st vie of betting a trial. Mr. Cooper has been observing the action on the New York tracks during tlie past few days and thinks tlie system can be put in operation at Hot Springs. Botli tracks in the Vapor City are in good condition and there is a movement on foot by mauy of the Influential citizens at the Springs to try and re-establish racing next winter at Oaklawn.
