a : : a 0ID ROSEBUD STILL AT THE HEAD OF THE THIRTY LEADING AMERICAN WINNING HORSES OF THE PRESENT YEAR A ; : 4 Old Rosebud is still our lending money-winning horse, but the three-year-old Omar Khayyam and the two-year-old Sun Briar are now hard after him and, because of their more numerous opportunities, likely to depose him before long. Fine horses they all are and those who have seen them in racing this year have enjoyed a high privilege. Old Rosebud has won slightly more than 30,000 and the other two are not far away from that sum. Papp is fourth. It is quite probable that had he been ridden by such skillful riders and strong finishers as Loftus, Butwell or J. McTaggart he would now be an easy first. There are now thirteen winners of 10,000 or more, with Jack Hare Jr., Rickety, Rosie OGrady, Escoba and Spur knocking at the door and almost sure to enter presently.. Our old friend. Borrow, might easily capture one or two of the autumn stakes and also creep into this select division. To date the thirty leading money winners of 1917 and their records are: Horse. Col. Sex. Age.
