Paolita Annexes Kings Plate At Woodbine in Stunning Upset UpsetTORONTO TORONTO Ont May 22 In the big ¬ gest upset since Maternal Pride startled local fans back in 1924 Paolita threeyear old daughter of North Wales n and Boca Grande had her name added to the scroll of Guineas winners when she came from out of the clouds to turn back seven of her own age in the eightyfourth Kings Plate over Woodbines heavy racing strip today Held at odds of better than 35 to 1 the winner under a splendid ride by the veteran Pat Remillard completed her mile and a furlong task to reach the finish line two and a half lengths in the van of W F Morrisseys Arbor Vita who went to the post carrying the bulk of the public money Another two lengths away came the Mc ¬ Donald Stables Tulachmore to hold third position safe by a pair of lengths from H C Hatchs Grandpal The Riverdale Stables Gallant Foe who commanded much support wound up last of the field and appeared to be anchored in the heavy and holding footing footingTodays Todays Plate victory was worth 6640 to owner Hemstead and it marked this popular sportsmans first successful quest for honors In the affair It was also the first Plate winner for jockey Remillard RemillardMore More than 35000 fans a record crowd were on hand to welcome the Sport of Kuigs back to the Ontario Jockey Club this afternoon
