Bourn Wins Grand Steeplechase : De Paris Before 500,000 PARIS. France, June 18. — Count De-1 Ganais great jumper Bourn galloped off . with the Grand Steeplechase de Paris, the French equivalent of the historic English Grand National, at Auteuil yesterday. At the finish of the exacting four-mile crosscountry event. Bourn, the 7 to 5 favorite, was a facile winner over Caldarium. Third in the field of eight starters, of which five finished, was Alino. The value of the race to the winner was 0,000. As usual the renewal of Frances premier jumping event opened the Grande Semaine, the Ascot week of racing in this country, and all Paris, it seemed, journeyed to the" fashionable Boulogne Woods I course. The crowd was estimated at 500.-000. | It overflowed the centerfield. The Grande Semaine will culminate next Sunday with the running of the international three-year-old classic, the Grand Prix de Paris.
