New Contract Halts Strike By Derby Catering Workers CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 4. — The Kentucky Derby can be staged tomorrow with all its customary trimmings. The winner can be toasted in mint juleps, bourbon and branch water, or as you will. There will be no drought at Churchill Downs. This danger was averted with the signing of a new contract, the AFL Bartenders Union announced today. It grants a 10 per cent wage increase to about 5,000 dispensers of food and drinks at 30 race tracks, including the Downs. Employes here work for the Harry M. Stevens Company, caterers at many of the leading tracks in this country.
