Stake Books for Arlington And Washington Meets Out The 1951 Arlington Park-Washington Park stakes books were in the mail today, simultaneous with a statement by racing secretary Frank E. Kilroe that the expanded program has drawn the heaviest response from horsemen in years. Strong interest already has been indicated in the two 0,000 grass stakes — the Stars and Stripes Handicap at Arlington Park July 4, and the Meadowland at Washington Park on August 25. Closing dates for the two richest grass stakes in America are June 23 Stars and Stripes and August 11 Meadowland. The stakes book lists 28 events, 15 at Arlington, 13 at Washington Park, headed by the two 00,000-guaranteed-the-winner handicaps. The Arlington feature, scheduled for July 28, is at a mile-and-a-quarter while its Washington Park counterpart will be staged this year at a mile.
