Dag mar Presents Checks To Two Boston Hospitals SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., June 13.. — Dagmar, the television star, made her first New England appearance today, visiting Suffolk Downs for Massachusetts Handicap day; and, in addition to presenting the winning owner with the huge Massachusetts Handicap trophy, she was given a ,000 check by Judge John C. Pappas, president and managing director of the Downs, for the Damon Runyon Memorial Fund for Cancer Research. Dagmar will take the check back to New York and present it to Walter Winchell. She is not only acting as the representative for Walter Winchell in receiving the check, but she. also presented two checks to hospital heads at Suffolk Downs yesterday from the Damon Runyon Memorial Fund. j One check of 0,000 given to a representative of the Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology at Shrewsbury, Mass., and the other check for* ,500, went to the Free Hospital for Women in Boston. | With the gift of these two checks, the amount of money the Runyon Memorial Fund has given Massachusetts alone for cancer research has now reached 11,315.03.
