APACHE TRAIL raced with the leaders and assumed command while in hand midway on the turns, then easily increased his advantage and was being eased back coming to the finish. HEARTH MOUSE had speed while close to the inner rail, drifted out when displaced by the winner, but easily finished clear of the others. ALWHIRL, unable to untrack himself early, closed with belated courage in the stretch run. GINGHAM was not a serious threat. PUFFBALL quit. FLYING J. F. pulled up lame. SPEEDY VAN immediately established a long lead, weakened under vigorous punishment through the final furlong, but lasted to hold S0SPIR0 clear. The latter saved ground gradually improving position, was guided wide for the stretch run and, closing determinedly, was swiftly drawing to the winner. SURF GIRL raced in closest attendance to the pace under pressure and faltered. SHREWSBURY dropped back while bearing out badly on the turns, then finished evenly. GAY PATTY was outrun. ROZS STAR was lightly in hand while within easy striking distance, swerved when punished entering the stretch, but was quickly straightened and disposed of JAMES B., then lasted to hold the opposition safe. LANDSEAIR was under steady handling, but could not find his best stride early, then closed with a rush in the stretch and drove through close quarters between horses to gain his placing in the final strides. DINEWISELY, racing on the outside and unable to contend early, closed determinedly in the drive in a good effort. JAMES B. easily set the pace with a clear margin into the final furlong, but faltered suddenly when punished. FRED R. was prominently placed, but tired. CONSUS faltered. ESTUARY was very green. FLYING WEATHER was steadied while well placed on the outside of the leaders, responded determinedly to punishment in the stretch and gradually asserted himself. AGRARIAN-U was hustled along to outsprint MUSIC, could not open a clear lead, but held on better than usual. MUSIC saved ground while gamely lodging several bids for the lead, failed to reach the front and weakened. DELPHY raced in the clear, but could not get up. BOLD JO saved ground and was under intermittent pressure while close to the pace, was left with a long lead when VALPAM bolted on the far turn, then responded when punished in the last sixteenth and held LARAN safe. The latter lacked early speed, appeared the likely winner while closing with a rush through the stretch, but ducked over to the rail sharply and, after drawing abreast of the winner, hung. BLAZING gave an even effort. HIGH TREND was outrun. VALPAM, swerving wide under strong restraint through the backstretch, bolted on the far turn, then was straightened for the stretch run and came on to finish about ten lengths behind the field. DARK FAVORITE was under intermittent urging while on the outside, closed in company with the winner in the final run, but could not get up. CHLOE began well from her inside post position, gradually worked to the outside and willingly moved to the front when urged in the final furlong, but could not stave off the top two. VERSIFY was hard pressed while setting the pace, but held sway into the final furlong, then faltered. MARTA, slowest away at the start, circled wide for the drive and finished fast. WINSHIP came between horses and loomed boldly in the stretch, but suddenly weakened. ELOPE had a rough trip. ON was outrun. BANK ACCOUNT was rousingly ridden while pressing the pace and quit badly in the last furlong. SEA FAN was through early. MISS TINKA quit. LUCKS HERE, under snug restraint and allowed to drop back steadily until midway on the turns, then rallied mildly and dead-heated for fourth with CALL YOU. The latter had earlv speed, drifted wide while tiring, but lasted for the dead-heat. PRICKLY faJtered. DIGIT was outrun. BRIDGE LIGHT, in close quarters at the start, gave a poor effort.
