Sky Maid Wins Again In Sprint at Hawthorne HawthorneMrs Mrs Martha Milanis Filly Beats Albemarle for Third Tally in Row RowHAWTHORNE HAWTHORNE Cicero HI June 12 Sky Maid a fleet little fouryearold filly who races in the silks of Mrs Martha Mi lani of Waukegan HI sprinted to victory for the third consecutive time at this meet ¬ ing in the featured Greater Chicago Hotel Association race here this afternoon Hustled along by jockey Kenneth Church Sky Maid second choice in the wagering defeated the favored Albemarle from the Bishop stable by one and onehalf lengths with Cullerton finishing third in the six horse field Sky Maid paid 720 in the sixfurlong affair and ran the distance in 113 over a slow track trackSky Sky Maid racing for a 9000 claiming price never left the result in serious doubt although Albemarle made a creditable run at her in the stretch The winning daugh ¬ ter of Skytracer had a threelength lead turning for home and the Bishop runner cut it to half that margin at midstretch but he showed a tendency to lug in and was in a straight line back of the leader next the rail coming to the wire It was virtually a twohorse race Albemarle beat ¬ ing the third horse by six lengths lengthsThe The weather was hot and humid today The most uncomfortable of the meeting as a matter of fact Therefore the crowd was comparatively light 10437 being in attendance The racing strip which was heavy during the workout hours was dry ¬ ing out fast and figured to be in good shape for Saturdays racing racingThe The first turf race in some days was run as the fifth event and resulted in quite an upset when Battle H the extreme outsider in the field of seven was the winner Boomer who recently set a track mark on the grass was the favorite and made the pace but Battle H with Al Popara riding vigorously got to the front in the final sixteenth to win going away in a drive Boomer backed up out of the money Irish Flare being second and Rocky Sir who got to the front on the stretch turn taking third place The distance was one mile and Battle H in winning his second race of the meeting paid 3980 3980A A 17080 Daily Double was recorded when Goluptious the favorite took the opener and Sailors Delite an outsider won the second Goluptious under the confident ride of Adams was an easy winner but Sailors Delite asserted her superiority even more convincingly She scored by eight lengths from the favored Altruistic Sailors Delite recently returned from Fairmount Park where she was unplaced in each of her two starts She was ridden by W M Cook
