New Jersey Notes MONMOUTH PARK, Oceanport, N. J., June 18. The horses of Mrs. W. W. Vaughan, Red Bank patron, are bedded, down at Monmouth Park. Trainer Royal Roberts has 14 head for the local campaign and this meet- ; ing will mark the first 1954 appearance of ! the Vaughan silks. i Maine Chance Farms Fantine Busher and R. M. Websters Sorceress, recent winners of the two divisions of the Polly Drummond Stakes at Delaware Park, will have a chance to settle their claims at Monmouth Park. Both are eligible for the » j » » i . Colleen Stakes, scheduled Saturday, July 3. Sorceress, a daughter of Slide Rule and Quick Touch who "was bred by her owner, a New Jersey patron of the sport, also is named for the New Jersey Futurity due on July 14. Joseph Vogel, employed by trainer A. H. "Frenchy" Bowen, is recovering from facial cuts received in a freak accident in the recreation hall. Vogel swung a pool cue getting into position for a shot, broke the glass covering a fire extinguisher and was painfully cut. Ann Schuling, who makes racing colors, is busy on a set for Helen M. Caronte, a New Yorker coming into the sport with Sol Rutchich training her horses.
