TOO MUCH RACING, THE OLD TIMERS SAY. The conservative old-timers of the English turf are much disturbed at present, the burden of their song being that there is too much racing. They are clamoring for a return to old conditions, when racing for the week closed on Friday and when Monday was usually an open date. They fear there is too much of professionalism in the ceaseless grind of six days? racing almost everyv week throughout the season. The complaints of this order seem confined, however, to the sportsmen of formerdays, and are not countenanced by the rank and file of English turfmen, who assert that the changed conditions make it essential that there be as few off days in the season as possible.
