DAYS OF THE "RALN FLAG" ARE RECALLED. "Four winter racetracks in operation and another to begin next month. Just think of that, and then recall racing of twenty-five years ago," said an old-timer to a New York newspaper man. "I remember well racing at Jerome Park when rain would cause a postponement of the siort. On a rainy day if racing was postponed a flag signalizing the fact was hoisted at the old Astor House. That paved persons from taking a trip to the track unnecessarily. Can "you imagine racing being postponed in these days because of a shower? No, not for a deluge. Guess racing has progressed all right."
