Helgerson was favored by the going, outfooted his opponents for the entire trip and won going away. Arab showed Improvement and finished fast and gamely after working his way up on the outside of the leaders and having come wide at the turn into the homestretch. Merry Acrobat showed speed, but tired under punishment in the final furlong. Little Boy was crowded back on the first turn and could never get up. Little Wally quit. Heart of Hyacinth ran a good race and out-gamed Maudina in the final drive. The latter went well and had to go all around her opponents to get up. Granada tired under punishment, was short and can beat such horses. Beautiful Bess was crowded back on the turn out of the backstrctch and might have been a contender but for this.
