Beau Brummel broke with the leaders arid ran something like his true form for the first time during the meeting, was on the outside until well into the stretch and has been working well. Knockirky, "at Bill Daly odds," ran in suddenly improved form and outgamed Charley Ward when It came to the final drive. The latter ran a good race for a first out. Chamblet got away mixed up and ran a. poor race. Vendido showed speed. La Thorpe was unlucky. Scratched C0071 Miss Jewell, 110; 00347 Larry P., 110; C0121 Solvent, 113. CAQOO SECOND RACE 2 Miles. All the others swerved when they came to this jump and took it sideways, enabling Parnassus to open a big lead in the first turn of the field, but he was tiring at the end and had to be hard ridden to stall off Class Leader. Benvollo did bis best and ran disappointingly, but was easily best of the others. Drexel was kept out of active contention too long, but finished Kamely and would probably have been a dangerous contender had he not dropped so far hack In the early running.
