NOTES OF THE TURF. William Gerst. has lost by deatli the two-year-old Neckar, by Laekford Ethelinda II. William Hendries three-year-old chestnut filly Bawbee, by Griffon Favor Ban, is dead. George B. Hill reports the death of the four-year-old bay filly Candida, by Sir Dixon Black Heart. The funeral expenses of ex-jockey William Griffith were paid by the Jockey Club from the fund for disabled jockeys. Frank Turner, son of the old trotting horseman John Turner, will go to New York this year with a string of youngsters. Thirty-three hunts clubs in various sections of the country have come under the wing of the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association for this year. A recommendation of the Jockey Club stewards, which practically amounts to a new regulation, is that one man shall Issue all owners and trainers badges for the metropolitan tracks. It is also recommended that James Pettigrew be engaged for this service. Walter J. Snyder, for the past two years secretary of the Grosse Polnte track, has resigned to accept the secretaryship of the Michigan State Fair Association. He lias appointed George Voorhies, former track superintendent at Highland Park, to a similar position at the new fair grounds in Detroit.
