WHY GEORGE S. DAVIS IS ELIGIBLE! Lest the presence of George S. Davis, a winner, in the first race ata Shcepshead Bay tomorrow, which Is for maidens, be confusing to those who are not provided with program books for the meeting, this explanation Is given. The conditions of the fifth race on Thursday last read: "Maiden Race No. 1. For maidens two years old. Weights 4 pounds below the scale. By sub scription of 0 each; with 00 added, of which 25 to the second and 5 to the third. Five furlongs, Futurity Course." This was the race that George S. Davis won, and the following conditions explain his eligibility to the opening race tomorrow: "Maiden Race No. 2. For two-year-olds. Nou-winners of any race, excepting Maiden Race No. 1. Weights 7 pounds below the scale. By subscription of 0 each; with added, of which 23 to the second and 5 to the third. The winner pf Maiden Rtfcc No. 1 to carry 8 pounds extra. Five and a hujf furlongs, Futurity Course."
