SAnFAR."WINS" THEFEATU:ElT"At "BUFFAEO. Tongordcr Disappoints the Canadians Broomhandlo Breaks Down Horses Leave for Salem. Buffalo, N. Y., June 23. Aliy person dubious of the success of the Buffalo Racing Associations meeting should have seen the spacious grandstand, lawns and clubhouse balconies at Keullworth Park swarming with enthusiasts today. The Whirlpool Handicap in itself was enough to draw a good crowd, but in addition to that there, was n race for gentlemen riders and a steeplechase handicap over the short course, both popular here. The attendance was further augmented by au excursion from Toronto, Hamilton and other near-by Canadian points. Sunfura, J. J. OFlahertys Ingoldsby Slly, simply played with her opponents in the feature event. She practically made her own pace and wou !n a way that stamps her as a filly of considerable merit. Tongordcr, the pride and the hope of the Canadians, made a challenge at the head of the stretch, but this spent his speed and he died away, finishing a bad seventh. Preou, overlooked In the betting, was closest in attendance to the favorite all the way, with Royal Window, which had enough after going seven-eighths. Mr. Buck, on Thomoud, always the public choice at even money, wou the race for gentlemen riders. Mr. Buck rode like a veteran, rated Ills mount and won cantering by five lengths in front of Racine II., which was closest to him all the way. Mr. Marshall, on Singaway, rode a good race, but was handicapped by a poor mouut. Irene A., in the first race, disappointed a multitude of backers, the winner turning up in Crip, the third choice in the betting. Crip had to be hustled along to stall off the rush of Clamor. Silver Wedding, In the second, was always the choice and won her race easily. In the steeplechase all save Subadbr fenced cleanly. Subador blundered at the eighth jump and lost his rider. John Randolph, for some unexplained reason, pulled up after going the greater purt of the journey. Bob Murphy, heavily backed by his stable connection, won, with Apteryx, supported by Hie Canadian contingent, a close second. The sixth race was run In a blinding rainstorm. Mrs. R. Bradleys Aloha filly, Euiinola, .winning. M. J. Daly shipped a string of fourteen horses to-day to Rockingham Park, Sulem, N. H. The tliarbarity Stable will ship Its horses tomorrow to the same track. Lotus Eater is included in the shipment. Broomhaudle, property of II. I!. Baker, broke down in the Whirlpool Handicap and It will be some time beforeie will be able to race.
