TWELVE THOUSAND SEE RACING AT BUFFALO. Wild Range Wins the Steeplechase: Independence Handicap Is Taken Easily by Red Leaf. Buffalo, N. July 4. The largest crowd that has ever been within the gales of Kenilwortli Park crowded tlie grandstand, lawns and clubhouse balconies today to witness the running of the best card presented by Secretary John Boden since the opening of the meeting. Fully 12,000 people were in attendance. The last of tlie serial steeplechase handicaps was won by Wild Range. He carried 100 pounds and won in a canter; Ligero was next best and got second place easily. Bob Murphy, which, coupled with Ligero, was settled on as the real tiling, stumbled at the eighth jump and unseated his rider. From there to the finish Wild Range had the race to himself. The sorest disappointment to the talent came in the Independence Handicap at a mile and an eighth.
