Scotch Dance showed the most early speed, but tired after going three-quarters and had to be hard driven at the end to save second place. Self Reliant ran a good nice and was going fast at the finish. Prince of Pless, probably lest In the going, was away iioorly, elosed a big gap ami. Iietier handled, would have been placed. Hybrid, favored by the going, raced all around the others, assumed a long lead after going three furlongs and won eased up. Demo, hard ridden, sttiod punishment gamely and finished going fast. HamlspiKe showed improved form, overcame a lot of interference and got up In the closing strides for third place. Avendow. badly ridden, was taken in the worst going and, better handled, would have been second, l.a Thorpe closed a big gap and was gaining at the end. Bottles was crowded considerably. The .Minks, outrun in the early stages and hard ridden to keep in a contending position, moved up gamely on the stretch turn, where he saved ground and, standing a hard drive well, wore down Ciilouel Jim Douglas and seemed to be Winning easily, but tired suddenly and barely lasted long enough. Colonel Jim Douglas showed the most early speed, but tired and swerved when Nicol pulled his whip, then came again when sfraigliteued out and finished wearing the winner down. Gus Heidorn. favored bv the stiff going, ran a good race and stayed well In the final drive. Concert seemingly disliked the going and quit badly after going three-quarters. Doctor Dan tired after going a half. Albert Kir ran a bad race and seemingly could not run freely, in the stiff going, was never a serious eon-tender and was hopelessly beaten off after going a quarter. My Gem came from a long way back and was going fast at the end. Belden, much the best, was poorly handled and allowed to drop far hack in the early running, moved up after going three-quarters and, finishing fast, with better handling would have won. Daring had the best of. the start and showed the most earlv ;:jeed, but tired badly after going three-quarters. Lady Charade failed to show much speed. Early Hours tired badiv after going a half.
