ADVANCE GUARDS -TURF CAREER. The Breeding Bureau has not indicated at what point In New York state Advance Guard Is to stand next spring, but it is quite certain that his services will be in demand for the mares of the farmers in any locality to which he is sent. It was a handsome thing in Mr. Hitchcock to present the nine-year-old son of Great Tom and Nellie Van to the Jockey Club for the purposes Intended, but it is nevertheless regrettable that so good a racehorse Is to forego, the opportunity to serve full-blooded mares. Advance Guard was one of the few horses to run a mile better than 1:40 as a two-year-old. Here is a record of his career on the turf which began at Aqueduct, April 17, 1800, and ended with his victory In the Autumn Weight for Age Race at Morris Park, Octoberv25, 1002: Year.
