FIVE SUCCESSFUL FAVORITES AT LATONIA. John L. Inglis Wins the Feature Miss Doyle Is Inadequately Handled Gossip. Cincinnati, O., August 28. Favorites and second choices were returned winners in five of todays races at Latonia. Redcoat, at 15 to 1, was the only outsider to land a purse. The card was given over mostly to horses that have been frequent non-winners at this meeting. The exception was the fourth race, which went to the much improved John L. Inglis. His victory enriched ids connections considerably. They backed him with confidence. He put up a good performance, conceding weight to all his opponents, but was lucky to win. Miss Doyle was best, but Perrett was too light to do her justice. She requires a strong . rider. Miltiades, which was favorite, ran as If short and ceased to be a contender after going five furlongs. Another big attendance was present. They were mostly visitors to the Fall Festival which began here today. Fred. Cook departed today for New York. He will remain about a week. He expects to make a book at Douglas Park. Jockey Nicol will leave here tomorrow. He goes to Sheepshead Bay and will have a mount in the Futurity.. He says he feels confident that he will beat Walter Miller for jockey honors of 1906. For misbehavior at the post jockey Seder was fined 0 by starter Holtman, In the third race. W. H. Fizers horses were shipped tonight to Douglas Park. W. Hi and Harry Laudcman left tonight for New York. They will book at Sheepshead Bay. Potash, which Is at present being handled by J. C. Ferriss, Jr., will be shipped to New York, where she will be raced over jumps. C. E. Patterson shipped his string of horses tonight to Louisville. C. Maulding shipped Pirates Dance and one other to Shony, III. They will be campaigned at the "bush" tracks.
