MISHAPS IN STEEPLECHASE AT WINDSOR. Only Three of the Seven Starters Finish Bank Holiday tho Winner Big Crowd Out. Detroit, Mich., August 2S. A bright, cool day called out 2,500 people to thu Windsor track. Five well backed second cliqiees and a favorite won. The. feature of the days racing was the steeplechase handicap over the short course, in which there were seven starters, but only three finished the course. At a false break Peter Becker ran away and went over the first obstacle under restraint. He made a bad landing and unseated his rider. He was finally caught and held while the others were sent away to a fair start. Sartor Rc-sartus came to grief at the second jump, losing his rider. At the same fence Dragon bolted and Trenct the Mere refused. This left Bank Holiday, Mau-zano and Lulu Young to fiuish. After going over the tenfh jump Bank Holiday assumed command and won easily from Lulu Young. It. C. Chambers and his brother Frank were called to Seward, Nebraska, last night on" account of the death of their mother, who died Monday morning at the advanced age of ninety-two. Starter Dwyer today tiued jockey Brincgat 0 for disobedience at the post. Swain also diew two days for the same cause The suspension against jockey Cherry was raised after he had been one day on the ground. He will be given auother .chance to be civil at the post. In the steeplechase Pierce, who had the mount on Bank Holiday, was set down for the remainder of the meeting for breaking up starts.
