Charley Ward was off badly, but weaved his way up on the Inside, flashed through an opening when entering the last sixteenth and would have won In another stride. Rome forced a fast pace to the last sixteenth, but was a tired horse at the finlah. Edwin H. had no mishaps and quit badly in the stretch. Mauzano ran forwardly and fenced well, but tired In the stretch run. Sartor Resartus lost his rider after going over the second jump. Dragon ran out and Trenct the Mere, refused at the second jump. Fleeting Star was well handled and saved from the early pace until rounding the turn for home, where he caught the leaders tiring, racing Mirabel Into exhaustion and ,wpn with plenty in reserve. Minos was much used in racing with Mirabel and was much the best of the others. Abington began slowly, but ran a good race and will do to remember, closed up in the stretch run and was going fastest at the end. Mirabel was used up in forcing the pace and tired badly in the final eighth. Tom Anderson closed a big gap from a poor beginning. Attention was a keen contender nearly all the way, but tired badly In the last sixteenth. Crip ran well for a half mile, then quit and appeared to be sore when going to the post. Lemon Girl was a keen contender all the way and easily held the others safe. Lazell ran forwardly all the way, hut tired and just lasted long enough to save third place from Cambridge.
