Athena, away running and well handled, showed mucli speed, ran to her best form and won all the way. Sand Bath put up a good performance and was gaining steadily through the stretch run. Estrada Palma finished with a rush after a slow beginning and outstayed The Laurel. Tiie latter was a forward contender and ran a good race. Katie Powers ran a bad race under poor handling and can do much better. Falkland ran a bad race and was never a serious contender. Sister Lillian tired quickly after going three-quarters. Frank Flesher was well handled, followed the early pace closely and. assuming the lead when called on. came away and won well in hand after a slight shaking up. Demo, hard ridden all the way, was forced into the deepest going through the stretch and, standing a drive gamely, finished fast and ran a good race. Bottles, badly ridden und taken all over the track, put up a good performance and was slightly chlf"-on the foreleg. La Thorpe showed the most speed for the first half, but tired fast In the stretch. Inglis, hard ridden all the way, followed Miltiades closely to the stretch turn, where he took the lead and, under a hard ride, outstayed Miss Dovle. The latter, weakly ridden, was probably best and suffered from bumping by John L. Inglis in the last furlong. Miltiades ran as if short and tired after going three-quarters. Mary Orr was a sharp contender in the early stages, but tired after going a half. Dulzura, away badly, closed a big gap. Doad and Druicn raa green. Warner Griswell pulled up slightly lame.
