TWO DISQUALIFICATIONS AT LOUISVILLE. St. Volma Runs Out of the Course in the Steeplechase and Talamund Causes a Mixup. Louisville, Ky., September 21. There were two disqualifications at Churchill Downs today. The first came in tlie steeplechase, which was the chief offering on the card. St. Volma and Maverick fought It out hard through the stretch and the former, by staying close to the inner rail while Maverick was boring, .out, got the decision by a head. The decision was not well received by many who thought that Maverick had won. After the riders had weighed out; judge Price ordered the numbers taken down and gave the race to Maverick disqualifying St. Volma on complaint that he had run out of the course- after going over the sixth obstacle. By the change in decision, Sigmund got second and Little Wally third money. Aside from" tlie disqualification of St. Volma, the race did not set well with the public, n. M. P., which had been heavily backed, bolted at the first jump. Talamund, in the last race, was the other horse set back. He finished a good .second to. Malleable,. :lrat2tosK3ak PrincejpfWess was-knoekwrdown. The sharpshooters were out In -force and the books suffered, all the winners being liberally supported". Jockey Buchanan is the latest to join the Tanks of owners. He has purchased Easy Street from Dr. H. K. Rowell. Jockey Seder was taken ill after riding Inspector Girl and could not fill out his engagements.- Jockey Wylie on Prince of Pless was not hurt by the fall.
