Fish Hawk ran a dull race, was forced out of position in the early running and also tired unexpectedly in the closing drive. Victoria B. closed a big gap from a fiatfooted send-off. James Crawford was never dangerous. General Sherman showed superior early speed, but failed to stay. Gild, nearly left, never got into serious contention and can do better. George S. Davis bores In to the rail constantly, ran well to the stretch and quit. Gambrinus is improving, maintained clbse pursuit of the leaders and finished gamely. Robin Hood displayed brilliant speed and challenged the pacemaker on the last turn, getting into a clear lead, then tired right at the end. Dishabille broke away so slowly as to be virtually left at the post, but closed an immense gap and finished with a cyclonic rush, going three feet to the leaders one and was much the best. Suffice was also going fast at the end into a close up fifth. Water Tank displayed unexpected good form. Halifax quit completely in the last quarter, but showed a glimpse of his old-time superlative speed for a half mile. Monet, ran a bad race and can do much better.
