"CURLEY" BROWN IS SENTENCED TO. PRISON. Former Starter Must Pay 00 and Serve Three Months for Violation of Anti-Poolroom law,-,. New Orleans, La., October 15. In the Criminal District Court today, after the evidence gathered by the. state had been heard, H. D. Curley Brown was-sentenced "to a" fineot 00rand . tlireemonthif-imprisonment in the Parish prison, with an additional term of three mouths in the event of nonpayment of fine. The indictment, to Which Brown pleaded guilty on Thursday last, charged, violation of the Hunsicker anti-poolroom law. The plea, of, guilty was designed to "shut out the evidence, gathered by the state and secure as mild a sentence, as possible. While accepting the plea the court deferred sentence, heard the states case and then, acted. Before he was sentenced Brown made a long statement to the court detailing all of his troubles and difficulties.
