MONTREAL TRACK PLEASES EARL GREY. Montreal, Que., November 24. Earl Grey, Gover-nor-Oeneral of the Dominion of Canada, accompanied by Sir Montague Allan, president of the Montreal Jockey Club, paid a visit to the plant of the new club a day or two ago. The party, which included Mr. Sladen, secretary to Earl Grey, left the city by a special car early in the afternoon. An hour was spent in a trip of inspection over the plant, at the end of which his excellency, who is well acquainted with turf affairs on the other side, expressed himself as delighted with the modern arrangements for racing. If his engagements permit, the Governor-General will certainly come down here in June next, at the head of the viceregal party, to attend the official opening. Earl Grey was particularly impressed with the progress made when he was told that twelve months ago the club did not so much as own the property on which the present magnificent plant has been erected. He considered the progress that had been made little short of wonder--ful.
