Optional, favored by a good ride and running to her best form, was a forward contender from the start and, running gamely when called on for a final effort, outlasted Quinn Brady in the final drive. The latter was much the best, but suffered from early interference and from poor handling, then came with a lelated rush through the stretch, but could not get up in time. Sneer came fast near the end and ran a good race for him. Glen Gallant tired badly in the last furlong after having showed the mostearly speed and will inmrove. Cannon Ball ran fairly well and had no mishaps. Ash AVednesday made up ground. Bitter Hand had a rough trip and can do much better. Anna Ruskin, away stumbling and poorly handled, ran a good race, closing up considerable ground in the stretch under a hard urive. Mary Candlemas tired fast after going a half. Judge Post, away fully in motion, took a long lead soon after the start and, setting a good pace steadily, was never seriously in trouble and won with plenty in reserve. Dr. Spruill was a forward contender from the start and stood a hard drive well at the end, outstaying Orly in the last strides. The latter was awnv in a tangle and had scant chance with the start, but stood a hard drive well and, finishing with a rush would have been a dangerous contender with clear sailing. Belmere was lucky throughout in avoiding interference, showed much speed, took the lead when called on and won with plenty in reserve. Meadowbreeze forced the pace most of the way, suffered slight interference and ran a good race, but could not concede weight to the winner. Hannibal Bey was shuilled back when the mix-up occurred, then closed a big gap despite making a wide turn into the stretch and finished with a rush. Orbicular had a rough trip and finished gamely. Jack Dolan ran fairly well and will improve. La Sorciere showed a good flash of early speed, but tired fast after going a half. Rebo failed to show much speed and can do better. Miltiades pulled up lame. So did the winner. Frontenac was cau-ht in a jam and fell. AVoodsaw and Great falling over him. Toboggan showed improved form over his last race at Latonia and was given a good ride, took a long lead at once and, standing a hard drive through the stretch, won with a bit to spare. Cutter ran well, was gaining steadily and finished witli a rush. Alencon was a sharp contender in the early stages and, with a stronger rider, would probably have been second. J. AAr. ONeill came from a long way back in the stretch and finished going fast. Adbell had no mishaps. Rusk ran a bad race and can do much better. ft Q SIXTHRACE 1 Mile. 1:397123. Henry AVattersou Kecui-ingly sulked hi the first part of the race and, after moving up fast on the stretch turn, tired and can dj much better. Florizel, poorly handled and taken wide most of the way, ran a good race and will improve. San Primo was also poorly handled, btit put up a good performance and is worth remembering. Flavigny had a rough trip and would have been much closer up witli clear sailing. Merry Belle had no mishaps and lacked speed. Scratched 65559 Araho. 107.
