Fred Bent steadily moved up and earned seeond place In the last stride under a poor ride. Atkins ran in forward contention throughout and appeared to have a chance when beginning the last sixteenth, but his early effort caused iiim to tire and beat him for second place. Chestnut ran forwardly for Six furlongs and tired after a surprisingly good effort. Tavora ran a dull race, was always outpaced bv the leaders aiid never dangerous. Proper, from a lucky start, maintained nearest pursuit of the leader and finished very gamelv under punishment. Corrigan decidedly outstayed the others after being badly messed about early. Lubin, a slow beginner, dropped far to the rear at oiice. but closed a big gap in the-last half and is being raced into condition gradually. Ramus got away badly aud, after leing knocked about on the first turn, had no chance. Dolinda was far outclassed here. Dewey showed early speed and finished well.
