LEXOLINE FIRST IN THE HANDICAP. Lady Fesca Scores Brackets Minder Gets a Fall Athena "Is injured. m Cincinnati, O., June 20. Lady Fesca, ridden by J. Lee in the opening race, was the only successful favorite at Latonia this afternoon. Her victory was something of a lluke. as .Marcus Aurelius was best and but for interference would have won. Tlie handicap at seven furlongs resulted in a spirited finish. Lexoline fought it out gamely with Cablegram and won in the last few strides. The much abused Old Honesty taking third place. Bough riding in tlie third was responsible for Jockey Minders fall off Docile and an injury to Athena. Jockey Brandt, who rode Monochord, was held to blame by the other riders, but he escaped punishment. Minder had a thumb dislocated and several of his teeth loosened. Athena liad one of her hind tendons almost severed and in all probability she will never be raced again. The crowding was on the first turn. Miss Ilnwleys chances were nil after tlie interference. Joe Shields took the purse from Henry 0. Princess Orna, acting more kindly than usual, showed the way for tlie entirtv distance in the fifth. Jockev Skirvin; who liad the "fnoitnt on Florizel. lodged a claim of foul against the winner, but It was not allowed. Jockey "Monk" Overton, who has been out of the saddle since the summer of 1903, had mounts on Stoner Hill and Careless. Overton showed alertness at the post and got his mounts away from the barrier In a forward position. He rode vigorously, but the horses under him were not good enough. If he keeps down in weight he should have no difficulty holding bis own among the riders here now. J. McClernand will shortly ship all bis horses to Windsor.
