Chief Hayes was waited witli until making the turn into the homestretch, then came fast, caught El Cazador tiling in the last quarter and was going away at the end. El Cazador, a quick beginner, sprinted to the front and set the pace for five furlongs, then tired. Herman Johnson was unable to improve his position at any stage of the race, but was easily best of the others. Auna May can do much better. The winner was entered for 800; no bid. Shirley U., off fast, opened a big lead before the others got to going freely, but was tiring in the last furlong. Minnie G.. outrun all the way and unable to improve her position, can do better. Oroba was alwaj-H close up, came with a rush In the last furlong and. catching McDaniel napping, caught and passed Lady Powell In the last ten yards. Lady Powell spreadeagled the others in the run around the far turn and Miould have won, but McDaniel was over-confident -and rode a very weak finish. Stanley Fay found no trouble in disposing of the others for third place. Emma G. had a rough trip In the first furlong Mild was repeatedly huiniied and knocked off her stride. The latter was brought up with a rush on the turn for home, but swerved L across to the inside rail at the eighth post and finished in the deep going. The latter was a forward contender until on the turn for home, then quit. Azora ran poorly. The winner, entered for , was run up and bought by J. R. Walnwright for 1,200.
