NEALONS RACING CAREER. Barney Schreiber has had much success in breeding": and racing thoroughbreds, but no performance by .invt horse produced at his Woodlands Farm in Missouri has, according to a message from San Francisco, broinght Mm so much delight as the victory of Nealon in the Suburban Handicap. Nealons victory adds much tq the already good standing of Sain as a Blre, and It brings Woodlands Farm more prominently before the people of Missouri, where just now certain forcible illustrations of the advantages of breeding and racing are needed. Sister Josephine, the ddm of Nealon, Is a Hanover mare. She was bred in Kentucky by Colonel George Clay and is from the noted mare, Ilypatia, which was also the dam of Hypocrite, the dam of Administration, and Hannahrinda, the dam of Arsenal. Sister Josephine was bought by Mr. Schreiber in 1S95 for 20. At that time the country was recovering from the panic, nnd thoroughbred horses were cheap. Schreiber raced the mare and retired her to Woodlands. Nealon was foaled in 1903. His Suburban victory was his twelfth In fifty-sis starts. He made his first start at St. Louis June 9, 1905. but did not win a race until he got to Oakland the following November. In December he scored two more victories at Oakland, one of them at a mile in sloppy going in 1:442. As a three-year-old he won six races, among them the Dolphin Stakes, the Turf Handicap and the September Stakes. In the Turf Handicap at Sheeps-; head Bay be set a new track record for one mile and a quarter ou the grass, doing it iu 2;05J. He won two races at Oakland last January after Mr. Schreiber had sold a half interest In him to C. E. Durnell, both in the mud. The best be conld do In the Burns Handicap was fifth, and he was unplaced In the Palace notel Handicap and the Family Club Handicap. He finished fourth in the Metropolitan Handicap and Was third in the Brooklyn. Wiiile he has won over fast tracks, he is partial to the soft going and likes a long distance of ground. The Sheepshead Bay tract seems to be more to his liking than any over which he lias raced. Here Is a record of Nealons performances and earnings: Year. A. Sts. 1st. 2d. 3d. Unp.
