JOHNNIE BLAKES SEVENTH VICTORY. De Reszke Scores at Buffalo Kuro Wins the Steeplechase on Three Legs. IlulTalo, N. Y., June 21. Fred Cooks Johnnie niake scored his seventh straight victory by cantering away with the second race at Kenilworth Park tills afternoon. The Commoner colt was meeting a very ordinary hand and he was always a prohibitive favorite. He conceded weight to everything in the race. The time, 55 J for the four and a half furlongs, marked a good performance, as the track was fully two seconds slow. The erratic Gilpin was among the beaten favorites, lie was an odds-on choice in the fifth race, but the best he could do was to finish third to the old Hayman standby, De Reszke. This horse was stand-sit one of the Jockey Clubs breeding stations last season and was resurrected by his owners this spring and again placed in training, lie showed some of Ills old-time speed in todays race, which he won in runaway fashion and pulled up fighting for his head, liltter iland was second. The steeplechase, while it resulted in a close finish, was an uninteresting affair. Caloorahatehee, which opened a 7 to 10 favorite and receded to i even money at post time, dropped out of the struggle 1 at the first jump, where lie bolted into one of the wings and unsealed his rider. Then Croxton, hacked from T to 2 to evens, opened a big lead and led until well into the homestretch, where Kuro caught and passed hiin, winning by a half, length. When Kuro pulled up he was hobbling on three legs. Ca-1 loorahatchee was caught and remounted, finished the course and got third money. Jockey J. AValsh was cautioned by Steward Morris against rough riding after the second race. Walsh had the mount on Shindy in this race and. when the start came he cut across to the inside, interfering with most of the other horses. Jockey Joseph Hogg has applied for a license ami will ride for M. L. llayman during the Kenilworth meeting. Mose Jacobson, trainer of T. Hitchcocks Dog Hose, claims that tins reason the latter bolted on the stretch turn in his race yesterday, and for which he was disqualified, was because the colt was savaged by Cave Adsum. C. E. Mahone lias signed jockey McNamara, a Huffalo boy, for the remainder of the season. Steve Davidson arrived from Windsor this afternoon with his stable.
