CONDENSED HISTORY OF THE ADVANCE STAKES. Being a weight for age race, all horses that start in the Advance Stakes do so on equal terms and under such circumstances it is a caso where the best horse should win. The great value of the event annually induces owners of the cracks of the year to send them to the post, and some desperately contested races have marked its running, that of 1904, when Irish Lad won from Ort Wells by a head in the record breaking time of 2:17g being memorable. Last year the line lilly Flip Flap won in almost as fast time and it may take as rapid running to keep her from repealing this afternoon. The record of the race is as follows: Year. First. Age- Jockeys. Wt. Second. Age. Wt. Third. Age. Wt. Val. Time. 1S99 Thomas Cat ". OLeary . .11." Reu Ilolladay P. 12.-.
