HOLSTEIN IS DEAD AT LEXINGTON. Lexington, Ky., July 3. E. It. Rradleys stallion Holstein is dead at Idle Hour Farm. Holstein was nine years old, by Hanover out of Anna Gray, and was one of the best sons of the dead hero of McGratbiaiia in the stud. As a two-year-old he raced at the New York tracks In the colors of AV. C. Whitney, and was then sent to England, where he won nine out of the eleven races in which he started. Holstein was up to going any reasonable route, and, being a horse of splendid conformation, it was believed that he would prove himself one of the very best sons of Hanover. He was brought back to this country three years ago by John S. McDonald, and his first crop are two-year-olds this year. He was bred to but a few mares, and no especial effort was made to select them, yet the only two horses he has sent to the races Hollow and Lady Isaliel are both good winners. Last spring lie was removed from Tennessee to Mr. Rradleys farm here, and had been mated with twenty-fouiA mares this season.
