KICK ON REDUCING WHILE ITS HOT. "Forty, jockeys signing a lengthy petition to the Louisiana Club, threatened to leave the track for keeps Monday morning if their demands were not agreed to," says the New Orleans Picayune. "The jockeys first demand was the only one not agreed to in full. The others related to cinching the chances ot getting their pay for each ride, but the first was a demand that they be allowed to weigh in at ten pounds above or below scale, contrary to the custom that prevails on all principal tracks in the country. The officials, however, will allow them to weigh in five pounds above in future. There are a number of big jockeys at the track who find It almost impossible to make weight during the hot weather,"-
