Saratoga, N. Y., August 2S. R. T. Wilson, Jr.s, Beaucoup and Falcada finished first and second- in the Adirondack Handicap, which featured the card hero today, lint thats not the way the owner wanted It. Mr. Wilson, of course, does not object to having the two honor positions in the race, and he would have been mightily tickled had Falcada been first and Beaucoup second. Beaucoup is his Futurity depcndiincc and, being anxious to give him the benefit of the race and at the same time save his maiden allowance for the big feature at Shecps-hcad Bay Saturday, he declared to win today with Falcada. He put E. Dugan on Beaucoup and Sandy on Falcada. Had he reversed the riders his desire would probably have been fulfilled. Sandy messed Falcada about in the early running, while Dugan went along making the running and expecting the stable mate to come up after turning for home. Instead Fultonville loomed up dangerously and Dugan was forced to ride ISeaueoup to the limit to save the race. Sandy settled down to business with Falcada when he got straightened out in the stretch and coming fast got up in time to take second place by a nose from Fultonville, and a head back of Beaucoup. Until this happened Beaueoups weight for the Futurity was 117, now he must carry 122. A large party of visitors from Amsterdam and other points in the vicinity of the San ford home were present and it was largely their money that went to tho support-of Fultonville, which was backed fronl 10 to 1 to 4 to 1. Brady, ridden by Miller and backed heavily by the Farrell Sullivan contingent, never left the opening race in doubt. He led all the way and won as his rider pleased. Rocket, the favorite for the steeplechase" blundered at an obstacle at the end of the first two miles and it cost him the race, Garrett winning by three lengths. Kernel was a contender when jockey Saffel fell off at the end of the first mile and a half. The sharpshooters profited handsomely by the victory of Security. This sour-tempered half-brother to Dick Welles and Ort Weils got off lying and spreadeagled the others. He is improving under the handling of William Cahill, a good man with a mean horse. Kennyetto scored her third success in as many starts this season when she took the mile handicap by a half length from Totirenue, witli Charles Edward last and quilting badly. This fast horse is surely not right and In the opinion of some of the best trainers should not have been started today. The Newcastle Stable will sell ten horses in training, including Running Water and McCarter, at auction on September 12 at Sheepshead Bay. The Sanford -two-year-old Polly Watts was taken with a severe attack of coughing after her race of Tuesday, in which she came out a defeated favorite at odds-on. Single Stone is ailing. The stewards summoned George Boles, the bookmaker, to appear before them and explain the .,500 alleged hedge laid against Okenite on August 21, which appeared on his sheets. Boles said that lie had laid against the Belmont horse for and at the request of Bob Rose. The stewards say that nothing of an incriminating nature lias developed thus far in their investigation into jockey Mountains recent riding. Notasulga has had a relapse. The great filly stepped on a nail several weeks ago and the wound was healing nicely. A recurrence of the trouble incldently developed after a recent workout. Her owner, however, is confident of getting her ready and lit to go to the post in the Belles Stakes. i .7. Farrell is said to have released his apprentice jockey Beekmau outright. Beacon Light is credited with the best work of the morning, 1 1-S miles in 1:5 1.
