, . . . CONDENSED HISTORY OF THE HITCHCOCK STEEPLECHASE. The Hitchcock Steeplechase has generally been contested by the best class of jumpers, one of Its winners, Zinziber. subsequently winning the greatest American prize for junipers, the Champion Steeplechase. Another winner, Plato, ran second to The Cad for the same great race, a performance emulated by Coligny last year. He won the Hitchcock in 1905 and finished second to Ilylas for the Champion in 1000.
