CONDENSED HISTORY OF THE FIRST SPECIAL. The First Special has always Ueen the most important race of the Gravesend fall meeting for three-year-olds and over and has always been contested by crack racers. In its first running it fell to the famous Falsetto filly. Dew Drop, and since then has been woii by such stars of the track as Volant. Kingston, Tenny, Lamplighter, Henry of Navarre, Ben Brush, Imp, Kinley Mack, Ilermis, McChesney and Beldame, Kingston winning it three years in succession and Lamplighter two years. Its fastest running was last year, when Cottontown defeated Running Water in 2:055. The race will be run for the twenty-second time this afternoon and its record is as follows: Year. First. Age.
