JOHNNY EDWARDS DEAD. Los Angeles, Cal., November 30. Johnny Edwards, probably the highest-priced and most valuable horse at Ascot Park, died here yesterday from sickness contracted on the cars. He was a two-year-old, by Kingston Climax, and bred at James It. Keenes Castleton Stud. A great career being expected of him when a yearling but failing to realize expectations, lie was sold to Senator P. II. McCarren for ,200. McCarren subsequently refused an offer of 5,000 for him. The colt arrived here in charge of trainer James Boden after a long roundabout trip from Baltimore. A weeks confinement on the cars brought on a malady from which he failed to recover despite the attention of a crack veterinary, who came here on a hurry call from Emeryville. Johnny Edwards was named for the secretary of the Jamaica track. The colt recently won two races at Pimlico with ease.
