Won driving; second and third the same Caper, away fast and well ridden, took a good lead at the start and, although tiring near the end held on well in the closing drive and outstayed Communipaw. The latter was prominent from the start and caving ground when turning into the stretch, finished gamely and wearing the winner down fast Sister Polly tired after running in close pursuit of Caper for the lirst three-quarters. Katie Powers put up -i good performance and is best over a longer distance. Charlie Thompson, in good form closed a big gao from a slow beginning. McAllister ran poorly. Bayk Holiday, practically left, closed a big gap, finished gamely and ran a good race, but pulled up lame. Dacra came from a long way back after taking the last two hedges, l ull of 1 tin tired after being prominent for one turn of the course. Profitable showed the way in the early stages, but failed to stay. AV. K. Slade was overlooked by the starter and left at the post. Miss Mazzoni followed the winner close up for three-quarters and appeared to be able to go into the lead in the stretch, but tired suddenly. Ed Kane was given a poor ride and taken all over the track. Ooldquest, also poorly ridden, was taken into numerous pockets. Kings Plate was prominent for three-quarters and will improve. Lens, skillfully ridden, forced a fast pace for the lirst half, then wore Robin Hood down on the stretch turn and, standing the final drive gamely, outstayed Refined in the closing strides. The latter was in close quarters for the first half and, finishing fast, would have won with a stronger rider. Dargin, shuflled back at the half, was forced to go wide, but finished witli a great rush and would have won iu two more strides. Glamor was cut off in an effort to go through on the lower turn. Robin Hood showed the most early speed, but tired badly in the last quarter. Judge Trecn was knocked back after going a quarter. The winner was entered for ,000; no bid. Flayigny was always in close puisuit and, in a game fiuish, barely failed to win. Agile was prominent for a mile, but tired when called on strongly. Jungle Imp ran far below his best form and was beaten off after going a mile. Lady Goodrich was stiff and sore when going to the post and ran In keeping with luer condition.
