Blondy. from a striding start, maintained close and persistent pursuit of the leaders and drew out fast at the end. Burning Bush ran in nearest attendance on the leader to the stretch turn and drew clear midway of the stretch, but succumbed finally after a game effort. Mechlin, away slowly, got into quick forward contention and, after making a wide turn, finished fast. Sevenfull set the pace for five furlongs, then quit very badly. Belle of Iroquois, away poorly, steadily Improved her position into a fast going fifth and is very good. Webber was outclassed. The winner was entered for ,000; no bfd. I.one AVolf was prominent in the running from the start and won off decisively when sent along in real earnest. Huzzah, away slowly, closed up rapidly into a fast going second and is extra good. Benvolio ran well up throughout and was a fast going third. Im Joe had no mishaps and ran a bail race which should be thrown out. The Captain just about held his own and was not gaining at the end as his wort. Talamund showed speed, but was short. J. 1!. .Smith showed surprising speed in setting the pace to the stretch, but quit badly. The winner was entered for 400; no bid. Overweights J. B. Smith, 1 pound. Cello, luckily and forwardly placed, was a fast going second and is a good horse under light weight. St. Klmwood set or forced the pace for nearly a mile and finished a very game third. Acrobat, after close and strenuous pursuit of the pacemaker, tired finally. Fred Bent, shulUed back on the first turn, made up ground moderately well. Bill Mayham outbroke and outpaced the others to the last fifty yards and succumbed linally under an inadequate finish. Fireball ran lapped on the pacemaker to the stretch, where he quit badly and finished boring out. Miutia showed prominent early sieed and. after being forced out of position on the far turn, finished well. Sister Frances, out of place in such a short race, was outpaced, but finished well. Head Dance finished well up, but was out of place here also. Overweights Bill Mayham, 3 pounds.
