March 21. — There are fourteen horses in the string Woodford Clay expects to race at the New York tracks this year. They are now in training at the Kentucky Association track and are in charge of French Brooks, the young owner aneataaaj the greater portion of his time just now at the farm in Bourbon county. They are all ir» good health, wintered splendidly, and will be ready to race when asked to do so. The list is as follows: Kentucky Beau, ch. g, 4, by Star Shoot — Kentuckv Belle IT. Anuovanee. b. f. ■?. by Meddler — Victoria IV. Nimbus, b. g, 3. by Star Snoot — Lady Elite. Whistler, b. c. 2. by Bridgewater — Birdie T. Cavarone. b. c. 2, by Carlton Grange — Nihil. Woodbridge. br. c. 2. by Bridgewater — Woodray. Bainbridge. b. g. 2. by Bridgewater — Smyrna. Jollv. ch. g, 2, by Bridgewater— Senta. Waterghost. b. f. 2. by Bridgewater — The Ghost. Enfield, ch. c. 2. by Star Shoot — Isolee. Illwill. br. f. 2, by Sir Dixon — Grievance. Marcellus, ch. c, 2, by Prince of Melbourne — Marcianesi. Traveller, ch. c, 2, by Prince of Melbourne— Rose Prim. Bay filly unnamed, 2, by Ben Strome — Lasca. Kentucky Beau is expected to give a better ac-. count of himself this year than he did last year. His people will be sorely disappointed if he does not race back to his two-year-old form, when he won six of his fifteen races and took 7,000 for his earnings. In his two seasons he has been to the post thirty times and has won seven races, be-I ing second three times, third five times and un-i placed fifteen times, with aggregate earnings of 0.." 6o. Nimbus, which has to his credit seven victories out of seventeen starts last year and a total of 1908.sh,020 won. is unquestionably the best three-year-old prospect at the local track. Annoyance, the only three-year-old by Meddler in this country, was a disappointment as a two-year-old. She started six times and never earned a penny. She is a good-looking filly, however, and hope for her has not been abandoned. Whistler and Cavarone are the most highly tried of the two-year-olds. Whistler is a half-brother to Jiminez. Dunraven and Common Bird. Cavarone is a half-brother to Nihilist. Fair Fortune and Kildarlie. The dam of Woodbridge is a Rayon dOr mare bred by August Belmont. Bainbridge is the first foal of Smyrna, a young mare by nindoo. Jolly is also a first foal. His dam. Sehta, is a full sister to Sallie Catlett and half-sister to Chal- fonte. Waterghost is the second foal or The Ghost. and is a full sister to Javlin, a maiden colt in the string of Thomas Clyde. Enfield is a half- brother to Waterspan and Espero. Illwill is a half sister to Vanguard and Redress. Marcellus and Traveller were bred by II. T. Oxnard at the Blue Ridge Stud in Virginia, and were bought bv Mr. Clay as yearlings. He paid ,10O for Marcellus and 00 for Traveller. The last named is a half- brother to Eckersall. The unnamed filly by Ben Strome — Lasca is a full sister to Cederstrome and half-sister to Lasso, winner of twenty races. Mr. Clay bought her for ,000 out of the consignment from Dixiana Farm sold at Sheepshead Bay last June.
