i j " ■ RICH STEEPLECHASE POORLY PATRONIZED. There has been a decided falling off In the Whit ney Memorial Steeplechase this year. Only four subscriptions have been made %to the rich fixture as against an even dozen of last year. The sub- nerlbera this season are: J. W. Colt. Paul .1. Rainey. E. R. Thomas and J. E. Widener. Under the conditions each subscriber may name three horses for each subscription, with only one to start. Mr. Coiton and Thomas Hitchcock. Jr., are the most notable absentees, from Uio list tills year.
