Intervene, running to his best form and well ridden, followed Nigger Baby close up for the first three furlonjrs, moved up fast when urged and drew into a slight lead in the last sixteenth. Nigger Baby, awav last, showed much the most early speed and tired slightly near the end. Brougham, away slowly and Mumbling, was a distant trailer for the first three furlongs and. finishing with a rush, took third place in the last few strides. Little Mose, in a tangle in the early running, finished fast. She Wolf was in close tiuarters in the stretch run, had scant chance and, with a clear course, would have been third. Dario. much used in the early running, set a stiff pace and raced IiniH-rtinence into exhaustion, but tired badly from his effort. Dr. Heard ran poorly and was beaten off. Blue Lee. favored by a good send-off, took the lead at once and won all the way. but had to be shaken up in the last sixteenth to outstay Phil Finch. The latter, much the best and rounding into geod form, was shuffled back early and a distant trailer for Ave furlongs, then moved up with a rush when called on and finished wearing the winner down. Royal Ben was caught in a jam soon after the start and forced to go wide most of the way, but ran well. Bucket Brigade finished gamely and was a close contender most of the way. Pinsticker had a rough trip. Cock Sure would have been closer up with a stronger rider. Zagg quit after going a good half. Bertmont was knocked back at the half-mile ground. Royal Onyx was speedy, but suffered when Financier swerved and would have been second but for the mishap. Posing ran fairly well and finished gamely. Miss Delaney had no mishaps. Dr. McCluer seems to be in poor form. La Souer was always outpaced. The winner was entered for 00; no bid.
