KENTUCKY DERBY LIST OF ELIGIBLES. Louisville. Ky.. March 21. — The thirty-fourth running of the Kentucky Derby will take place at the Churchill Downs track. Tuesday. May 5. It is one of the oldest fixed turf events of the continent, and will be run this year under peculiar conditions as compared to former years. The pari-mutuel machine which will be used during the meeting will eliminate the picturesque and heretofore supposedly indespensable bookmaker. The management announces that no wager less- than will be recorded and just to what extent the speculation will be reduced is problematic, but well-advised persons hero contend that the great majority of the spectators will be prevented by this rule from backing their choices unless they indulge in "syndicate betting." Owners with the twenty-four three-year-olds now digitde in the Kentucky Derby are as follows: Alvey. E. — Dr. Mathews. Armstrong A: Harding — Synchronized. Camden. J. N.. Jr. — Dunvegan. Clay. F. T. — Marcus Aurolius. Corrigan. E.— Winifred Ryan and bay colt, by Scintillant II. — Triana. Fitzgerald, J. B. — Western Knight. Fizer. W. II.. and Co.— Al Muller. Gerst. One of these may not start, as Ed Alvey is not certain whether he will undertake to ship Dr. Mathews her- from Los Angeles for the Derby. R. C. Rami is at New Orleans, where J. 0. Milam is giving him a careful preparation for the race, and it is certain that the horse will come here fit to run the race of his career. J. Hal Woodford, who won last years Derby with Pink Star, is inclined to believe that he has a formidable candidate again this year in Pink Cap, and should the track be heavy his chances will be considerably enhanced, as the colt inherits a fondness for heavy going. George J. Long will try to bring the rich prize to Bashford Manor again with a son of Fals tto, two of which he has entered together with the Alvescot colt Bulbua.
