ENGLISH YEARLING SALES AVERAGES. In the public sales of the thoroughbred yearlings in England this year tho best average is held by Carbine, with 1.S00 guineas for one yearling, and then comes Persimmon, whose live youngsters produced an average of 1,500 guineas to the 1,421 guineas made by Gallinules seven yearlings. Other stallions with a four-figure average are Rock Sand, 1,253 guineas: Ayrshire, 1,221 guineas, and Ajax, 1,01! guineas. So far this year ninety-seven American-bred yearlings have been sold for, collectively, 17,475 guineas.
