COUNTING CHICKENS BEFORE THE HATCHING. Lexington, Kv., Decerning 12. Louis A. Cella, in letters recently received here, has said that he expects a revival of racing at Hot Springs by February 1st, and several of the local trainers, among them W. J. Young. J. C. Milam, Jack Baker. Dan Morris and Walter Grater, are making preparations to ship either to Memphis or direct to Hot Springs within the next fortnight. Manv letters have been received by local people from friends in Hot Springs, and the majority are of a verv hopeful trend. The impression seems to be general that at the coming session of the Arkansas legislature a beneficiary measure will lie passed, unless the track owners themselves put some obstacle in the way through failure to agree upon an equitable division of the dates. From away down deep comes the information that up to now the interests controlling Oaklawn Park and Essex Park have not been able to reach a tacit understanding. It is said that when J. B. Respess, who has the chief interest In Essex Park, went to Louis A. Cella for an understanding as to dates he was advised that that matter could be attended to later on. This, it is said, does not entirely suit Respess. He wants to know where lie stands before the legislature convenes. Respess. it is said, entertains the belief that the Cella-Condon interest will urge the creation of a racing commission for the state of Arkansas, with the hope and expectation that they can control the commission and secure through it the choice dates for Oaklawn Park. In the light of what has gone before, it would behoove Mr. Cella and all others concerned to have as little friction as possible, and to make an equitable division of the profits with the Essex Park people. Disagreement between track owners in any form at this time will certainly not help their cause before the Arkansas legislature.
