LOUISVILLE HORSES GALLOPING FAST. Training for the Approaching Churchill Downs Meeting in Lively Progress. l.ouisvill". Kv.. April lit. — The owners now at Churchill Downs will be well represented at the Lexington race meeting, which opens next Saturday. Main fast oues will lie sent to the hliiograss capital. Pat Civill and T. P. Hayes will ship tomorrow. On Wednesday "Bub" May will scud six and the fella stable, represented bv ten horses, will go at the same time. W. II. Fizer will ship twelve on Thursday. Fizer is sure to send several winners to the post. On Friday John Marklein. Fred I.uzader. George J. Long and Bob Tucker will ship to Lex ingtou. others protiahlv will go at the same time. Jockey Graver Warren will ride at Lexington at In:: pounds. He seems stronger than ever and Is in excellent condition. Al Kirby will make his engage mints. Warren is a daring youngster and Is sun-to Im- heard from this spring and next summer. None of the inobable Derby starters was worked. Tomorrow morning the Young eligible* will be sent at least a mile. Rome Respess colts will be not ken tomorrow. The track is fast and if it continues drv. sparkling trials are assured. Quarters in 24 and halves in 51 were reeled off yesterday by two-year-olds from the stables of W. H. Fizer and George 3. Long. Miltiades. from the barn of Charley Van Meter, went a mile in l:4S| with Dale Austin in the sad die The work was impressive. Roval Tourist, which was brought here from California bv Charley Kllison. was galloped slowly and showed well. Roval Tourist will lie one of tin-fastest racers at the Downs this spring. Balbus. a colt from the Long stable, worked fast. John Marklein sent W. A. I-aeh three quarters in 1:15, Prime Imperial is slightly lame, but will soon be all right. Ben Howe and Wool Sandals are about ready for the races. Norhit Hynes. the Derby eligible, which belongs to Frank B. Respess and Al Kirby. has recovered from his lameness and was sent a .half -mile in 60. It is not thought this handsome colt can be keyed up tight enough bv the time of Derby day. John Mavberrv left Jacksonville Sunday night for Louisville He is bringing Karls Court, a two-time winner at the meeting held at that place. His old bread-winner. Robin Hood, is also coining and this veteran will start at Churchill Downs. The news from Santa Anita that G. W. Bishopl Poole bad committed suicide, shocked the turfmen now at Churchill Downs. He had arranged to race here this spring. John Marklein is in receipt of a communication from trainer MeCormick. who is in Germany, in which the famous handier of horses says he has re gained his health and is enjoying a season of prosperity. The track Career of Governor Haskell Is at an end. He has been tilisteied by his owner. VV. II. Shadley. and has been turned out.
